The ending of the summer means only one thing for TV fans: Great British Bake Off. Despite the change in channel, producers and hosts, most of the country have stuck by the show, revelling in its Great British values, heart-warming scenes and, overall, its love of all things sweet.
It returns to our screens has inspired a flurry of marketing content, including the TV advert that gave a majority of the population a pluck on the heartstrings. But, here at Alpha Card, we’re most impressed with the show’s print ads which have been spotted on the top decks of buses across the nation.
The advert pulls together the show’s most recognised assets, incorporating GBBO’s well-loved presenters, among its British trademarks. Union flag bunting is draped across the top, giving a taste of picnics and street parties, reflecting on the show’s fantastic community feel.
Most notably though are the cake incarnations of each of the presenters. The tiered versions of Paul Hollywood, Prue Leith, Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding see their hair and facial features reflected to perfection.
Overall, the effect is bold and eye-catching, a spark of colour that has no doubt brightened many journeys home for the Country’s commuters.
This is a fantastic example of how printed advertising can connect with audiences, using national values while generating a community feel, the cakes acting as the cute cherry on top.
This is just one of the printed campaigns we’ve spotted in August that have made an impact, but it’s definitely our favourite and we’re excited to see how the new series pans out!
