Why Traditional Marketing Methods are Making a Comeback

It's a widely-held belief that, if businesses are to succeed and expand their client base, they need to have an online presence. While this may be true to some extent, marketing does not have to be limited to just the internet - there is a whole world of techniques out there and, often, some of the most effective methods are the ones we've been using for decades.

What is traditional marketing? Traditional marketing methods come in all shapes and sizes, and are carried out without the use of the internet; leaflets flyers, posters, TV and radio adverts, for example. In decades gone by, all companies would use these techniques to get their brand into the public domain, but the rise of the internet has complicated the marketing picture, and it can be difficult to strike a balance between traditional and digital mediums. After all, each technique brings a unique set of advantages.

Traditional marketing boasts better engagement Print marketing is often cited as having better customer engagement than digital marketing. If you think about it, how many times do you read promotional emails that are sent to your inbox? If a leaflet or a flyer is mailed directly to you, there's a good chance you'll read it, or scan through it, at least.

In fact, The Business Center found that 79% of households either read or scan through mail that is physically posted to them - this is a huge amount of exposure for products and services.

There's still a demand for human interaction Marketing is all about trust, and one of the most effective ways of achieving this is through word of mouth. Social Media Strategies Summit concluded that humans still love to see expressions and mannerisms when purchasing a product, and this type of interaction cannot be achieved on online platforms - no matter how much money you invest.

The same site goes on to state that 92% of consumers trust word of mouth recommendations from their friends, but only 58% trust online marketing. This perhaps surprising statistic just goes to show that some of the most effective marketing techniques are some of the oldest and most simple.

Traditional marketing produces tangible results If your marketing strategy is purely focused on the digital side of things, then this can bring as many negatives as it does positives - namely, you have to be sure that your target market has access to the internet.

With traditional forms of marketing, you have so many platforms in which to reach out to clients - whether it be a radio advert that's placed at a certain time to target a certain demographic or a high-quality advertising card or leaflet that is both concise and eye-catching. This sort of flexibility is one of the main reasons why you should implement traditional methods into your marketing strategy.

Never underestimate the power of physical marketing materials, but they need to be of a high standard to make them credible. Alpha Card can help, offering a range of high quality printed cards in different sizes and boast a z-fold, k-fold or a c-fold format. No matter what you want to display or say, we have a solution that's tailored to the needs of your marketing strategy.
